ADJ (Brit) [school] que recibe dinero del gobierno central, y no de la administración local GRANT-MAINTAINED SCHOOL Una grant-maintained school es un colegio público británico financiado por el gobierno central. Este sistema de organización escolar fue establecido para dotar a los colegios de una mayor autonomía y para reducir a la vez el poder de intervención que los ayuntamientos tenían anteriormente en la educación. Aunque muchos centros han preferido seguir adscritos a la autoridad local, los que han optado por el sistema de grant-maintained school son controlados directamente por un equipo directivo con una representación importante del personal del colegio y de los padres de los alumnos. Este comité se encarga de tomar decisiones tales como la contratación de nuevo personal, el reparto del presupuesto, o el mantenimiento del edificio, asuntos de los que antes se ocupaba la autoridad educativa local.
